MAG Review
Mag is a online only game that is set in the year 2025 which see's you fighting it out on a massive battlefield of 256 players, all fighting for an objective.
Upon starting up the game you are giving 3 options and these are: Raven Industries, S.V.E.R and Valor Company inc. and be careful which you choose as once picked the only way to leave and join another group is to delete your character and start again (or pay and outrageous fee of £0.76 for another slot in the game you already payed £39.99 for) so choose wisely!
Once chosen you alter the way the character's face looks and voice sounds and that's it, Fallout 3 it aint but then you can alter weapons, gear etc but only if you have already purchased them from the supply depot.
Once you have done all this its time to hit the matches, this is done by choosing DEPLOY and then picking your game mode, they are: Suppression which is basically team death match, Sabotage which is your standard attack and defend or those familiar with the Call of Duty series Search and Destroy, Acquisition which is like capture the flag, a dlc mode called Interdiction but i haven't played that and finally the big one Domination.
Domination is the only one that allows 256 players in one game the others range from 64 to 128, but even thought there are these vast number of players it seldom feels like it.
All these modes are things that we have seen before in previous games a hundred times over and the same goes to the weapons, they are all the standard M4a1, MP5 etc and firing them just doesn't feel satisfying like you think it would, i.e firing a Scar H point blank into someone should make a loud barking sound accompanied by a squelching noise like other FPS of late, but it doesn't, it takes on average half a clip to kill some one form close to medium range and its a grind to do it.
the one cool feature this game has even though its been done 1000000 times before and that is the skills tree upgrade, similar to one in F3 or Oblivion and is quite deep.
So after saying all this your probably thinking "then whats the point of this game" but however there is something about this game that just....... i don't know how to describe it but there's something that makes you feel either on top of the world when your healing teammates left right and center and planting bombs whilst killing 4 enemies or throwing the controller at the floor (trust me i know) that other games just don't manage they are either frustrating (COD) or fun (Battlefield).
I think because this game has such a large emphasis on team work it kinda makes it hard because some games you work as a team then others you get people running around by themselves and dieing 45 times and you know what that's fine, it their game they paid for it same as you but the developers made a mistake in making it so reliant on team work.
So overall i think this is game is one that will appeal to BBC2 player rather COD player due to it nature but it definatley worth a try.
Thanks for reading and leave me some comments on how to improve.
Introduction.
Hello welcome to my Blog i hope you like it, here i will be reviewing anything that is regarded as entertainment i.e video game, films or TV.
A little background information i started playing games in 1997 on a borrowed copy of Tomb Raider II
(anyone remember that?) which then spiraled into soldier of fortune (my mum wasn't impressed), half life and then on from there really.
I got a computer for games first but then got a PlayStation 1 for Christmas, then a PS2 (didn't really get on with PSone) and then a Xbox 360 then a PS3.
I mainly play PS3 and 360 games really but do occasionally play those classics again for nostalgia sakes.
Well thanks for reading this and hope you read my reviews.
